DYNSA cannot add / update users or reset passwords in Dynamics GP

You need to add both the ‘dbcreator’ and ‘securityadmin’ roles to the DYNSA user ID in MSSQL.

Log into System Manager in MSSQL.  Expand the ‘Security’ section and then expand ‘Logins’…search down through the list of logins for the DYNSA user. Right click this, and select ‘Properties’. When the ‘Login Properties -DYNSA’ window appears, click on ‘Server Roles’ in the top left hand corner, and tick both ‘dbcreator’ and ‘securityadmin’ as per te screenshot below.

  2. Dear All ,
I have GP10 now , but Upgraded from Gp6 to Gp8 to Gp10 over 4 years. then i have upgraded the SQL Server 2000 to SQL server 2005 Last year.
i am trying to stop using SA on GP and SQL task too.

I have Tried to Do the Steps to make DYNSA creates a User on GP .
Added DYNSA to SecurityAdmin and dbcreator and sysadmin.

My Problem is when i put a password on DYNSA from GP , I cannot Log in with it from SQL server because of the encryption. and when i put it from SQL server , GP either doesn’t recognize it or needs to reset it from the APP.

how can i solve the Password Issue ???

  3. First run the Grant.sql (Found in Dynamics/GP/SQL/Utilities) against all databases in SQL to rule out any rights issues.

Then log in to GP as ‘sa’ and change the DYNSA password, and test that you ca log in as DYNSA.

If you are still having an issue, let me know.

    • Also, make sure you are using SQL Native Client for your ODBC.

  4. HOW TO CREATE ADDITION USERS FOR DYNAMICS GP. ALL I CAN USE IS THE “sa” ACCOUNT. I WAN TO GIVE 10 EMPLOYEES ACCEES AND TEST DRIVE IT.

  5. Hi Tamar,
You need to have a 10 user licence, if you want all of these users logged in concurrently. However, you can set up as many users as you like…its just that the number of concurrent users is restricted to your liv=cenced number of users.

Setting up users is straightforward. Click on Microsoft Dynamics GP >> Tools >> Setup >> Users. You will also need to grant them access to companies, set their security tasks level, and assign them a Modifies Reports / Forms ID.

Are you working with a GP Partner who can guide you through the above? If not, send me an email to info@genesys.ie and we can take this off line.

    Regards,
